Orval is a Belgian Trappist beer that has been produced at Notre-Dame d'Orval Abbey since 1931. The beer is bottled in a distinctive bottle with a stylized image of the abbey. It has an amber to copper color and a fine-pored, cream-colored head. The taste is slightly bitter and has a pleasant fruitiness. A slight hop bitterness is noticeable in the finish. Orval has a complex aroma and is also highly valued for its lees and aging method. The beer is considered to be one of the best Trappist beers in the world.
