Chimay Grande Réserve, also known as Chimay Blue, is a Belgian beer and one of the most famous beers produced by the Abbaye de Chimay Trappist brewery since 1860. It is a Belgian Strong Dark Ale with a dark, coppery color and a cream-colored head. The beer has a complex aroma with notes of dark fruits such as plums and raisins, accompanied by hints of caramel, spices and yeast. On the palate, Chimay Grande Réserve is rich and full-bodied, with a sweet, malty base accompanied by notes of chocolate and caramel. The finish is slightly bitter and dry, with a pleasant alcohol warming sensation. Chimay Grande Réserve has an alcohol content of 9% and is best enjoyed slowly at room temperature to appreciate the complex variety of flavors.
